M.A. Communication & Leadership

Curriculum


The Master in Com­mu­ni­ca­tion & Leadership programme is composed of eight modules and a thesis.



1
Communication Circle

Introduces the world of com­mu­ni­ca­tions management, makes processes comprehensible and backgrounds clear. Participants in the Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Circle will learn about socio-psychologically based mechanisms and sharpen their com­mu­ni­ca­tions skills.

Corporate Communication Basics

Covers the most important theoretical and practice-orientated foundations of com­mu­ni­ca­tions management. Also explains com­mu­ni­ca­tions management structures, developments, areas of application, methods and tools.

Media & Media Relations

Students will become familiar with the diverse forms of media exclusive to com­mu­ni­ca­tions management, which are used to address relevant stakeholders. Corporate publishing and online PR will also be discussed in this context. As one of the most important disciplines in com­mu­ni­ca­tions management, press and media relations will also be covered in this module.

Management I
Basics

Review of the most important economic fundamentals and their relevance for com­mu­ni­ca­tions management. What economic truths does a com­mu­ni­ca­tions manager need to know? Other key topics: accounting, budgeting and marketing.

Strategy Circle
Steering Communication & Strategic Planning

Plan and implement com­mu­ni­ca­tions strategies and demonstrate their success. Participants in the Strategy Circle will become familiar with the strategic fundamentals for successful com­mu­ni­ca­tions management and will directly learn how to apply them.

Concepts of Corporate Communication & Society
Thought Leadership

Com­mu­ni­ca­tions management must be aware of its integrated role in society. A fundamental knowledge of this societal orientation is indispensable. Aside from public affairs and lobbying, this module deals with issues management, crisis com­mu­ni­ca­tion and CSR.

Management II
Behavior

Prepares participants to lead a com­mu­ni­ca­tions department or division. Participants will gain insight into the principles of business management, organisation, management and human resources.

International Communication Circle


A global perspective on an in­ter­natio­nal discipline. Com­mu­ni­ca­tions management crosses national borders - the International Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Circle gives participants an idea of the in­ter­natio­nal challenges facing future executives.
